How to Join a Cheerleading Team

Cheerleading teams have been around for many years. In fact, many high schools have them. Some cheer for football, basketball, or both. Other schools have started cheering for other sports, such as baseball and soccer. Cheerleading squads can also organize pep rallies and spirit days. The USO also enlists cheerleading teams to perform for troops overseas. Some teams will have three to five practices per week. Practices can be scheduled in the evenings or after school.

To join an all star cheerleading team, you’ll need to practice very hard. For younger teams, you can expect to practice five hours a week. More advanced teams can expect to practice two hours daily and an additional hour on weekends. Additionally, coaches will require extra practices to be held during competition season. Trial practices are held in the week before competitions, so you’ll need to commit to those. You can compete at local competitions or regional ones.

Many teams compete against other squads to win championships. However, many teams have multiple cheerleaders. In some cases, there are two cheer squads: one that is dedicated to competitions and another that’s devoted to performing at athletic events. Depending on the program, you may find several differences in appearance and purpose. While some cheer squads have multiple competitors, many teams are only focused on one sport or event. This will make your squad more competitive and more fun.
