Cheerleader Zombie
In the cookie-cutter town of Seabrook, it’s tough to be different. This is most evident in the only colors that are allowed in school — pastel pink and pale blue.
The town is brimming with perky conformity but soon begins to crack under the pressures of a zombie apocalypse. When zombies are allowed to enroll in high school, a charmer named Zed Necrodopolis finds his life turned upside down when he meets cheerleader Addison.
Despite her own prejudices, Addison befriends Zed and his zombie friends and helps them overcome their fears and awkward social situations. Together, they start to form a friendship that changes both their lives.
Zed, however, is not the only one who’s determined to win over Addison. The rest of the cheerleaders, especially her self-centered cousin Bucky and the Aceys, are also determined to make her their new zombie best friend.
The two eventually fall in love with each other, despite their shared undead status. It’s a romance that’s both exciting and frightening, but also heartwarming and hysterical.
The story of Zed and Addison isn’t the first time Disney has thrown these types of pairings together, but it certainly is its most ambitious version yet. Writer David Light and Joseph Raso, who previously co-wrote Zombies and Cheerleaders, said they wanted to explore this relationship in a more mature way. They wrote a pilot, “Zombies and Cheerleaders,” but it never made it to series. They’re hoping to turn it into a series with the help of Disney.
