If you’re considering cheerleading, there are several important things you should know. Registration for the spring season will be open November 22 – January 7. The cost of spring camp is $575, and includes flash uniforms, practice wear, and team attire. During the fall, cheerleading camp will be held at the Zrich Recreation Center and will include a camp trip to a local high school. Interested in competing? Start your spring season by signing up for the ICA’s Spring Season. It will run from January 18th through May 10th, but final dates are still pending. The season consists of 3 competitions and the Cheer Madness Event, which is a one-day tournament format with prizes for the winning squad. The competition will begin on January 18th. Each team will be allowed up to 12 hours of choreography to complete before competition day. Additional practice wear and music will be needed.
Before tryouts, Illinois cheerleaders will submit videos of themselves. After submitting a video, individuals will be selected to perform during the season. Once selected, they will practice two or three times a day. All 45 Illini cheerleaders will be assigned to a football game, but half will be assigned to other sports such as basketball, volleyball, and soccer. These cheerleaders give each team a little extra personality to help win a game.
