Cheerleading Routines

Cheerleading routines are essential for any competitive team, and it’s important that the students learn them correctly. The fundamental motions that make up cheer routines are the high and low touchdown, the V and T, and the squat. The arms should be stiff and sharp, and the cheerleaders should practice in front of a mirror. The motions should be similar to the ones used during a cone or touchdown.

Performing an organized entrance with a stunt or a run-on is not allowed. The team should enter the performance area in a timely manner and begin the first segment of their routine. The routine must end with the holding of the last movement and should flow from segment to segment. Teams may include mascots, but not partner stunts or pyramids. Props, such as signs, flags, and megaphones are also not allowed.

A cheerleading routine should be timed and flow from segment to segment. A team should enter the performance area in a timely manner, without holding stunts or organized entrances. The routine should be seamless from one segment to the next, and timing should end with the final holding of the final stunt. Gymnastics is allowed. But no props are allowed. They should only be used to hold a flag or sign. During the competition, mascots can perform with the team.
