Cheerleading Lifts

There are many cheerleading lifts to try. The most important one is the double hook jump. The flyer will wrap their right hand around the back of one of the bases’ shoulders and bend his or her other leg behind them. When performing a double hook jump, it is important to keep the legs straight and toes pointed toward the audience. The flyer will then return to the floor position and perform the routine. The base will grab the flyer’s foot with their left hand, while the three or four people holding the base’s hands will push the cheerleader back up to the thigh.

This stunt is the basic version of a forward flip. The top cheerleader balances on one leg and performs a back flip. It is important to not hold on to the other person when you are doing this stunt because this can cause your partner to lose their balance. Instead, make a subtle connection between the two flyers. When the top flyer reaches the top, extend his or her other leg backward. Once the other person has landed on the ground, the flyer will flip into an elevator position.

A simple, beginner cheerleading stunt is the L-sit. The base must keep his or her arms in an “T” shape and face forward. The flyer should extend one leg straight out with bent knee and point the toes as he or she lands on the base. The base must catch the flyer’s leg on the base, while keeping his or her arm up. The base should release the inside arm, which is currently gripping the flyer’s waist.
