Cheerleading Hit Zero

You can say “cheerleading hit zero” and you might be right. However, for me, as a photographer of sorts, it means that all the hard work is done by my boyhood idol, me. I’ve been a fan of cheerleading ever since I could remember. And it’s not just because of gymnasts and their fancy moves, but because these young kids inspire me to always go down the cheerleading aisle and shake those footballs until they drop, just like the olden times.

In fact, I’ll never leave you without your attention now, because this article is dedicated to my friend from the Royal Infirmary of Georgia, my very close uncle, who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and has done everything possible for his treatment. My family has always been by his side since he was a small child. This man has always been a humble person and I always felt as if he were always there to help me when I needed him most, even through the toughest of times. But this is why I feel as if I have become a cheerleader myself, because I was able to help my uncle overcome his disease and hopefully, save someone else from life threatening circumstances.

It’s amazing how a small thing like a cheerleading routine can impact someone’s life so deeply. So many people look up to cheerleaders as role models to follow and learn from. They are also idolized by wide array of sports teams, from basketball to football to baseball. They’re considered to be beautiful, graceful and talented. For me, no matter where I am, I always see them in the stands cheering on their favorite team. One might say that they’re my role models too, but it would be more fitting to say that my Uncle Sam is my role model.
